Templates and blocks

Your theme renders the job board, not a vendor stylesheet

Job listings and job pages are ordinary WordPress templates. They take your theme’s styles by default, any of them can be overridden from your own theme, and the pieces can be placed as blocks wherever the design needs them.

Written for whoever builds the site.

Works alongside

Whichever builder your site is already built in.

  • WordPress block editor
  • Elementor
  • WPBakery
  • Divi
  • Beaver Builder

The problem it solves

A job board that refuses to look like the site around it

A portal widget arrives with its own markup, its own stylesheet and its own ideas about layout. The result is a page that is recognisably not yours, and a developer spending a week fighting somebody else’s CSS.

A widget on the page

Styling you cannot reach

  • Markup you do not control
  • A vendor stylesheet competing with your theme
  • Layout changes that mean support tickets
  • Nothing your editors can place themselves

With W3Bullhorn

WordPress templates, in your theme

  • Your theme’s styles by default
  • Any template overridden from your own theme
  • Blocks your editors can place
  • Changes that live in your repository, not in ours

For developers

Override a template the way you already do

Listing, single job and apply templates can each be overridden from your own theme. Overrides live in the theme you build and version, so a client’s job board is part of the site you deliver rather than a black box inside it.

  • Listing, single job and apply templates
  • Overrides in your own theme, under your own version control
  • The same approach on every client site you build
  • No iframe and no vendor stylesheet to work around

For web agencies

For editors

Blocks for the pieces, wherever the page needs them

Job lists, search and apply are available as blocks, so a marketing team can put a filtered list of roles on a sector landing page, or a search box on the homepage, without asking a developer to build a new template.

  • Job list, search and apply as blocks
  • Placed in the editor, on any page
  • Styled by your theme, like the rest of the page

Boundaries

What this does not do

  • It is not a page builder

The plugin renders job content. Designing the page around it is your theme’s job, and your developer’s.

  • It does not restyle your site

Job pages inherit what your theme already does. A board that looks wrong usually means the theme, not the plugin.

  • It is not a design service

We keep the templates sensible and overridable. Bespoke layouts are built by whoever builds the site.

FAQ

Questions about templates and blocks

Short answers here. Anything else, ask us directly.

Will it work with our theme?

Yes. Job listings and job pages are rendered through your theme’s templates, so they inherit its styles rather than arriving with their own.

How do we change the layout of a job page?

Override the template from your own theme, the way you would override any WordPress template. The override lives in your repository.

Can our marketing team place a job list on another page?

Yes. Job list, search and apply are blocks, so they can be placed in the editor on any page without a developer.

Does an override survive an update?

Yes. Your overrides live in your theme, so a plugin update does not overwrite them.
